[with a sigh, Shadow Milk stares at the cottage he's avoided all month. sure, it's been fun bumming around with Tenna and other wolf folks, and attending the nightly parties, but the Beast is beginning to feel like himself again, and there's only one place he'd rather be.

near to his other half. or the Soul Jam. whatever.

he rubs the back of his neck and takes a step forward, heading up the cobblestone path towards the cottage. he should not give Pure Vanilla the time of day after what happened, but Shadow Milk feels like they need to chat about it. it wasn't really Pure Vanilla's fault. besides, now the real Ancient cookie will owe him something, right? yeah!

( Shadow Milk isn't the only one, Pure Vanilla has been starting to feel like himself. If not for Shadow Milk taking the initiative and going back to the cabin first, Pure Vanilla would not have hesitated to reach out to him with an apology. What had happened wasn't something he'd ever do. It was never his intention to cause any pain to his other half.

In fact, Pure Vanilla is about to make his way out the door when Shadow Milk makes his way to the cabin first. His chest constricts the moment he sees his other half, and it's not something that he can exactly mask.

What to say? How to even begin to apologize? )

... Shadow Milk Cookie. Welcome home.

( His voice is gentle, soft. )

[Shadow Milk Cookie makes a small "tch" sound as he stops in front of him. it's... a small comfort, to hear someone say "welcome home" to him. no, actually, it's a huge comfort, but he does not wish to admit it]

[hmmmm... his voice, also, is soft, though much more biting. Pure Vanilla didn't even chase after him! and, for some reason, that bothers him! pursue him, you dough-nut!]

My neck is fine, by the way. Didn't even need you to heal it.

( It's fine, that response is expected, albeit it's something that stings. He frowns deeply, and although he wishes to reach for him, he stops. )

You have my deepest apologies, truly. I... never intended to bring you any harm. After what had happened, I thought it would best if we were separate.

I am only glad to hear that you are alright.

( He doesn't have his healing magic. Even if he had wanted to, he's without his magic. But, even if he did, he knew better than to chase after him. If he had, what would have happened? In what way would he have given into those sudden-dark-urges. It hurts to think about it. )

( Perhaps Shadow Milk Cookie misunderstands. Pure Vanilla Cookie isn't one to just leave someone to be alone, especially knowing how lonely Shadow Milk has felt. )

[oh, that was not the answer Shadow Milk was expecting. he didn't know what he expected, but it wasn't for Pure Vanilla to say that.

he attempts to shove past him and enter the cottage since Pure Vanilla isn't moving out of the way]

( Shadow Milk walks passed him, and Pure Vanilla closes the door behind him, frowning quietly before speaking once more.

Of course he doesn't. The very foundation of his believes is motivated from wanting to spread happiness to others. )

But, you are special to me, Shadow Milk Cookie. You are my other half. I... have felt the same things that you have felt.

( He understand. He empathetizes with how he feels. He's felt what he's felt before. )

[he spits out, forcing a weak laugh along with his anger. then he gets in really close and jabs his finger into Pure Vanilla's chest]

Were it not for the Soul Jam resonance, I wouldn't even be on your radar, pal! You wouldn't have even looked my way!

Are you certain of that? You have a way of making yourself known no matter where you are.

[Shadow Milk's face feels hot, uncomfortably so, like when Pure Vanilla bit him weeks ago. he takes a deep breath and looks away, shoulders tense.

( Pure Vanilla reaches then, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. )

Are you alright?

( He seems so tense... Was the conversation making him uncomfortable? )

[sorry, he went off on his own, for a moment. but the action brings Shadow Milk back instantly, and he yanks away]

I'm fine! Just. Fine!

( Pure Vanilla pulls away then, frowning a little at that. )

... You do not have to push me away, Shadow Milk Cookie. I'm here.

( If he didn't understand him as well as he did, perhaps he would mistake that as simply... not wanting to be touched in general. )

[well. those kind words make Shadow Milk falter for a second. he bristles, but then settles back down. come on, he thinks to himself, don't give Pure Vanilla Cookie the satisfaction of wanting to help you, be cool and awesome!]

( He lingers for a moment, reaching out for him for only a second longer before dropping his hand. He offers a gentle smile. )

... That is kind of you. Thank you.

Perhaps it would be best to be more cautious going forward. We do not yet know what else may await us here.

I'm... I've got healing powers, now, but they don't really work that great on myself. I can heal. Other creatures better.

I see.... Perhaps it takes practice to get to the point where you can heal yourself. Or... perhaps the way that the magic works now is what was intended when you were given a potion.

I trust that you were able to find a healer here, then? Unfortunately, I have yet to regain my own abilities.

It's not like I go looking for healers, in general. I healed myself, enough to where I was able to stop bleeding. That's all. But other people told me I should focus on healing others. Silly, right? What's the use of having a healing power that only halfway works?!

Perhaps their line of thought was more along the lines that the more you heal others, the stronger your magic will be.

If you'd like, I could teach you. I would be happy to do so. I am certain the magic here and the kind at home does not differ far too much.
